Winterhaven Chamber Music Retreat is open to adult chamber players of intermediate to advanced level on flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello, and piano.  Winterhaven focuses on in-depth chamber music study with intensive coaching and private lessons from Artist Faculty who are all active chamber music professionals.  Fostering a supportive community, participants and faculty work together formally and informally throughout the retreat. Gourmet meals are served family-style in the Great Hall, encouraging conversation, sharing, and friendships that continue well past your time at Winterhaven.

The retreat includes daily chamber music coachings, rehearsing and performing chamber music alongside one of Winterhaven's Artist Faculty, private lessons, open faculty rehearsals, sight-reading parties, and concerts. Open time is available during the day to explore the surrounding area by snowshoe or cross-country skis, gather with friends over ping pong or coffee, sight-read, book a massage with our in-house Licensed Massage Therapist, or just relax in your private room.  

Winterhaven is entering its fifth year of partnership with Avaloch Farm Music Institute, with the 2027 retreat taking place on the grounds of Avaloch Farm Music Institute. Session I runs January 3-9, 2027 and is open to violin, viola, cello, and piano. Session II runs January 9-15, 2027 and is open to flute, clarinet, violin, vola, cello, and piano.
